Like most of America, I have been glued to the information flowing out of London. It is certainly a great spectacle, and I am consistently amazed at the performance of the athletes.
Athletes, who for most of the time building up to the Olympics, train in relative obscurity, working countless hours to perfect every subtle aspect of their chosen sport. For some of the events, like swimming, training comes down to one one-hundredths of a second. I can’t even get my stopwatch to start and stop in that amount of time.
It’s often that way with many things around the farm. It’s the “daily grind” of activities that are done over and over again, countless times, that can mean the difference between success and failure. How routine is an oil change? How often do you do it? And getting it right, every time, means continued success.
Athletes can’t skip hard work before success comes to them. And you can’t skip daily maintenance if you want your equipment to continue to work for you. You may not measure that time by a stopwatch, but keeping up that work will help you succeed.
What maintenance program do you think is the most important in your daily activities?
